Painting pain…all packed up with no place to go

Okay, so I am a couple of weeks into the chaos of attempting to repaint my condo, while living and working in it. There’s nothing like a big home painting project to make the work phone start ringing off the hook.  Taking on additional clients just adds to the fun of trying to get this place painted, in hopes of getting my house back together before the holidays.

First there’s packing…the plan was to clean objects before packing them.  That didn’t last long.  Now the plan is to clean items as they are unpacked.  So, I am knee deep in boxes.  And if you are packed long enough, you find you have to dig through boxes looking for that one thing you now need since you’ve been packed long enough to need things you thought you wouldn’t need.  Now there are half packed boxes all over the place.

Half packed boxes are now everywhere…

Second, there’s choosing new paint colors.  This is the current hold up.  I thought I wanted to try some new colors, but now I’ll be thrilled just to match what I’ve got and call it a day.  I’ve been agonizing over paint colors for almost 2 weeks.  I’ve got 16 pints of colors that look great on the chips, and in theory should work, but when actually applied to the walls don’t work at all.  So, it’s clear to me that there’s no way I can choose new colors without some expert help.  My design expert of choice is Toni Berry, and she’s been trying to guide me over the phone.  I think I am going to throw in the towel and find a color expert here in Oakland.

Paint samples, none of which work on the walls.

However, something even more dangerous is starting to creep in…now that I am taking a good look at everything in the house, I am noticing that the sofa is looking rather saggy and dull (OMG how did I get a paint drip on it?), the end tables are getting nicked up and the carpet is looking worn…uh, oh…
